The following sub-sections list a series of rules and regulations.
We would ask that all customers both old and new familiarise themselves with the rules relevant to any particular activity in which they might currently, or may in the future, participate.
By doing so we can all help to make Roe Valley Leisure Centre a place where everyone can enjoy themselves in a safe environment.
All persons using the Centre are to report to reception on arrival.
All customers paying for any activity will be given receipt. Receipts should be retained until the visit is over.
Where appropriate membership cards should be produced at reception on all visits.
Any member of staff has the right to ask any customer to show their receipt at any time.
The Duty Manager reserves the right to refuse entry to any person as a result of inapproriate behaviour or if they feel the person poses a risk to either themselves, staff or to other users.
All persons aged 8 and over may enter the pools unaccompanied. Those under this age are to be accompanied by an adult or responsible person over 16 years of age. The ratios to cover this supervision are as follows.
Children aged under 4-Maximum 2 children per 1 responsible person
Children aged 4-7-Maximum 3 children per 1 responsible person
For Children under the age of 4, we would recommend that they wear armbands whilst in the water.
Only when participating in Centre Swimming Lessons will children under 8 be allowed access to the pools unaccompanied.
Kidz Ahoy is open to all children, provided they are not over 4 feet 7 inches or 1.45m in height.
At least one adult should be present with each child during any visit.
The facility has a mximum limit of 40 users at any one time. Armbands will be issued by the receptionist on receipt of payment and are to be worn at all times whilst in this facility.
In the case of Birthday Parties, spaces will be allocated according to your estimated numbers, but you will not have sole access to the facility.
No one under the age of 16 is permitted to use the Health Suite.
Wristbands will be issued by the receptionist on receipt of payment or production of a valid membership card. These are to be worn whist in this facility.
Lifestyle Fitness Suite
In general terms no one under the age of 16 is permitted to use the Fitness Suite unless they are part of a school organised and co-ordinated group where the minimum age is reduced to 14 years. We do offer a 'Teen Gym' use where children aged 12-15 can make restricted use of the facility.
All users of the Fitness Suite must have completed an Induction Session and be in posession of their membership keyfob, regardless of whether they are a member or casual user.
There is restircted use of all imaging devices within RVLC. Imaging devices can be defined as any piece of equipment, electronic or otherwise, capable of taking, transmitting and/or storing images, either still or moving.
To this end, the use of cameras, mobile phones and camcorders is completely prohibited in all changing areas.
Use in any other area, including corridors and foyers, is only permitted with the prior consent of the Duty Manager.
In certain situations, relevant centre documentation must be completed before images can be recorded. The Duty Manager will advise when and if this is necessary.
Child Protection Policy within the Leisure Centre has been developed in line with recommended best practice outlined by organisations responsible for the welfare of children.
Council fully supports the view that organisations, when given responsibility for children, have a legal and moral duty to provide them with the highest possible standard of care.
To this end the following are important points of note contained within the Child Protection Policy. A full copy of the policy is available on request.
Clubs and Organisations using any of the Council's Leisure Services facilities are required to have in place their own acceptable Child Protection Policy, a copy of which will be held by the Leisure Services Manager. As a minimum requirement, all such clubs and organisations must accept and apply the standards of care as outlined in the Council's own Child Protection Policy.
Leisure Services staff are advised never to:
engage in rough, physical, sexually proactive games including horseplay.
allow or engage in inappropriate touching of any form.
allow children to use inappropriate language unchallenged.
make sexually suggestive comments to a child, even in fun.
let allegations a child makes go unchallenged, unrecorded or not acted on.
do things of a personal nature that a child can do for itself.
Situations where abuse may occur can be minimised by:
always being publicly open when working with children, avoiding situations where individual employees and children are completely unobserved.
having, where possible, parents, guardians or group leaders taking responsibility for children under their care within changing rooms / toilets.
preferably having a male and female member of staff supervising mixed activities.
avoiding spending excessive amounts of time with children away from others.
Staff witnessing inappropriate behaviour between an adult & child such as petting or fondling, inappropriate physical contact, sexually explicit behaviour, suspicious behaviour in changing areas or using appropriate language will report it to the Senior Officer in the facility.
All membership applications are only accepted upon completion of the relevant paperwork.
Memberships paid for up front are valid for 12 months unless otherwise specified at the time of payment.
Members wishing to pay by Direct Debit will be required to complete a membership agreement. We currently use a company called Harlands for the collection of Direct Debit payments. Whilst membership is applicable for use of facilities at RVLC, the membership agreement is between the member and Harlands. This agreement is a legally binding document which will "tie in" the member for the first 12 months (11 DD payments). Please note that failure to pay under the terms of this agreement will result in additional fees being charged by Harlands and can ultimately lead to court action being taken to recoup outstanding monies. Such action can affect credit rating and the ability to secure future credit. Please ensure that you can affordably meet financial commitments before signing up to any membership agreement.
For the purposes of identification, all users of the centre must report to reception on arrival, prior to any activity. For classes, memberships and booked activities we will require some relevant personal information that we will hold on record. All information is held in accordance with Data Protection law and your information will only be used for the purposes of Roe Valley Leisure Centre, Competition Line (Lifestyle Fitness), Harlands Finance, Credit Resolution Services or Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council. From time to time RVLC may use your information for the purposes of marketing and we will, by default, assume that you agree we can use it as such. Should you wish to opt out please advise a receptionist.
Once entered on our system, all users will be issued with a keyfob. Whilst primarily for speed of access through reception, the keyfob is also your means of accessing the fitness suite and health suite’s electronic door system. Failure to bring it on each visit will result in a delay to accessing these facilities.
A photograph will be required when keyfobs are issued. This image will be stored on the Leisure Centre's computer system for the purposes of identifying the member upon swiping in at Reception. The image will not be used for any other purpose by Roe Valley Leisure Centre, Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council or any third party.
The first keyfob will be issued free of charge. Fobs suspected to be lost or stolen should be reported to the Centre immediately. There will be a fee for replacement unless the original fob is deemed to be faulty.
Those memberships which include use of the Lifestyle Fitness Suite require that the user must first complete an Induction. Those opting to take out membership will have the induction free of charge. Those opting to pay casually will be required to pay for their induction but will receive the next 10 consecutive days use free of charge.
At the time of booking your induction you will be advised of the usage options for the gym. Please remember to bring payment, if applicable, and relevant documentation to your induction. We are unable to carry out inductions where the user arrives without all relevant items and the appointment will require rescheduling.
